The Wingless Electromagnetic Air Vehicle (WEAV) is a heavier than air flight system in development for NASA at the University of Florida. The WEAV was invented by Dr. Subrata Roy and has been a subject of several patents.〔United States Patent No. 8,960,595 Issued on February 24, 2015.〕〔United States Patent No. 8,382,029 Issued on February 26, 2013.〕〔Hong Kong Patent No. 1129642B Issued on June 29, 2012.〕〔Chinese Patent ZL200780036093.1 Issued on October 19, 2011.〕〔European Patent EP 2,046,640 Issued on October 12, 2011.〕〔Japanese Patent no. 5,220,742 granted on March 15, 2013.〕 The aircraft uses electrodes on its undercarriage in order to ionize air, and it then propels the resultant plasma using electromagnets. The high pressure zone created underneath the aircraft is consequently used to create thrust for propulsion and stability.〔Larry Greenemeier (July 7, 2008).
